Through March 4, 2025: Galettes des Rois (King Cakes) at Little Gourmand
On January 4, Little Gourmand launches its French Galettes des Rois for Epiphany, available until Mardi Gras. The King Cake is a traditional treat to celebrate Epiphany in France and is commonly sold in bakeries throughout the entire month of January. Named “Galette des Rois,” this pastry is flaky and buttery and filled with a dense center of almond cream.
A “fève” (porcelain trinket) is hidden inside the cake, and the one who finds it becomes King or Queen for the day — and usually buys the next cake! To ensure random distribution of the cake and to avoid cheating, it is traditional for the youngest person to hide under the table and name the recipient of each slice.
