Cheddar Biscuits
Ingredients
For the Biscuits
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 8 tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
For the Garlic Butter Topping
- 4 tbsp (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425Β°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the biscuits: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, salt, and Old Bay. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until the dough is lumpy but well mixed. Fold in the cheddar (do not overmix).
- Arrange 1/4-cup portions of dough on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes.
- While the biscuits bake, make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and onion powder. Brush onto the biscuits before serving.
