Single Chocolate Chip Cookie
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp salted butter (1/4 stick), melted and slightly cooled
- 3 tbsp light brown sugar, firmly packed
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg yolk, room temperature
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 4 tbsp chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the butter and brown sugar until combined. Add the salt, egg yolk, and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Switch to a rubber spatula and add the flour and baking soda, stirring until just combined. Fold in 3 tablespoons of the chocolate chips.
- Shape the dough into a 3½-inch disk on the prepared baking sheet and gently press the remaining 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips randomly over the top and sides of the cookie.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes, until the cookie is golden. Serve warm or allow to cool for 3 to 5 minutes on a wire rack before transferring to a cooling rack, then store in an airtight container.KATIE’S TIP: This is a great recipe to bake in a toaster oven or in an air fryer. Make sure you use parchment paper and keep an eye on it because cooking time may differ depending on the appliance. An air fryer, for example, may only take 5 to 7 minutes to bake this cookie.
