As fall approaches and temperatures start to mellow out a bit, Louisville’s outdoor dining spaces are calling to us! Luckily, there are handful of rooftop bars around Derby City that offer an elevated experience with sweeping views. Add these five Louisville rooftop bars to your rotation this season!

8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen

Neighborhood: Downtown
More Info: 8uplouisville.com

As its name suggests, 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen offers views of Derby City from eight floors up, with seating available in the open-kitchen restaurant, lounge, and rooftop bar. The eatery’s chef-driven menu features a variety of appetizers, woodfired pizzas, large plates, cocktails, wine, beer, and select bourbons.

Summer specials include “Rooftop Ritas,” $5 margaritas (from Friday through Sunday) during the year’s hottest season. When the weather cools down, 8UP is one of a handful of Louisville spots that offers igloos during the winter — so the rooftop space can be enjoyed year-round.

Copper & Kings Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Neighborhood: Butchertown
More Info: copperandkings.com

Not only is Copper & Kings the only distillery in the Butchertown area that focuses on brandy, absinthe, and gin, but it is also the sole Louisville distillery with a restaurant. Its rooftop space boasts ample seating with a cocktail program that showcases American Brandy, and the food menu is driven by seasonally available fare that pairs well with — what else? — the brand’s own brandy.

Gather friends on the rooftop from Wednesday through Saturday, or stop by for Sunday brunch and a Bloody Mary. The Copper & Kings version boasts a Bloody Mary mix, spices, lime, olive, and grape brandy. The space is also available on Mondays and Tuesdays for private events.

High Stakes Grill

Neighborhood: Phoenix Hill
More Info: highstakesgrill.com

Located at the top of Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu, High Stakes Grill is Louisville’s newest rooftop drinking and dining destination. With outdoor seating that boasts views of the NuLu neighborhood and the city skyline — and a bar that connects the inside and outside areas — the restaurant features a menu with everything from charred watermelon salad and corn riblets to bourbon peppercorn-crusted New York strip steak and honey-glazed salmon.

There are even fun cocktails like the Brown Butter Old-Fashioned and the bacon fat-washed Paper Plane. We suggest starting with the Baked Potato Roll for the table and trying the Push Pull, made with coconut milk, cold brew, and macadamia milk. The refreshing drink is a non-alcoholic take on the ever-popular espresso martini.
