It’s no secret: There are plenty of hair products on the market that don’t deliver their promised results. With thousands of hair sprays, mousses, and serums out there, it’s nearly impossible to sift through all of the options — and most of us are guilty of occasionally choosing a product based on the prettiest bottle, the best scent, or a TikTok review.

Luckily, there are stylists out there that have tried just about every shampoo, spray, and paste to find the best hair products for their clients (and themselves). We spoke to a few of those experts to snag their top recommendations!

Kérastase Densifique Densimorphose Hair Mousse

Kate Hartnett, a stylist at Element Salon Green Hills, explains that although there’s no “one size fits all” approach to hair products, a stylist can help you find the right product prescription for your particular hair type.

“My go-to product for finer, lower-density hair is the Kérastase Densifique Densimorphose Hair Mousse,” she tells us. “With hyaluronic acid and Gluco Peptides, this lightweight formula amplifies volume by plumping each individual strand with hydration and strength. I love it because it leaves hair feeling soft and lightweight while thickening it!”

Davines Renewing Shampoo and Conditioner

“We are a Davines salon, and I love the Davines Renewing Shampoo and Davines Renewing Conditioner,” says Eric Marshall Wright, owner of Eric Marshall Salon in Nashville. “These are part of an anti-aging line made with spinach, and the conditioner is made to be used on the scalp. It is often neglected from conditioning because we are taught not to condition it. This line helps with that issue. I absolutely love it.”

Shu Uemura Tsuki Shape Blow Dry Spray gives shape and hold to the hair and helps a blow dry last longer,” says Rosa, a stylist at Escape Day Spa and Salon in Nashville.

This heat-activated spray has a lightweight texture, so it won’t weigh your hair down. You’ll get significant volume without worrying about feeling like your hair is loaded with product.

This fan-favorite spray is also beloved for its scent, which leaves an elegant fragrance in your hair.

Zenagen Densifying Hair Serum

If your hair needs extra lift, Holly Rexroat, Master Stylist and Education Director at Style House Salon in Nashville, has the answer. “One of my absolute favorite products is Zenagen Densifying Hair Serum. It gives my hair extra density and volume. Yes, please!”

She also notes that, as a busy mom who’s six months postpartum, this product has been a lifesaver. “With limited time on my hands, the convenience of using just a few drops once a day is perfect for my routine.”

Need another reason to try this serum? Holly explains that because it is water-based, it doesn’t leave hair sticky or greasy. Plus, Zenagen was founded in the South — Brentwood, Tennessee!

Olaplex Dry Shampoo

“Another must-have in my busy mom routine is Olaplex Dry Shampoo,” says Holly. “As a long-time dry shampoo user, I was always frustrated by the white residue it left on my dark brown hair. With Olaplex, that’s no longer an issue! It leaves zero white residue behind, which is a game-changer.”

She even explains that, over time, she has noticed her hair requires less of the product to be effective. “It’s helped balance my scalp’s oil production without clogging my pores,” she explains. “And the best part? It’s the only dry shampoo I’ve found that’s consistently available in a convenient travel size!”
