Participating in a Nashville CSA is a rewarding experience that benefits you, your family, and your local farmers. If you love to eat locally and seasonally but don’t have the time (or patience) to grow your own garden, becoming a CSA member can be a great way to eat with the seasons.
Being a CSA member also fosters community. It is a unique experience to know where your food is coming from and the quality of food you are receiving. By buying into your local farm, you support their operations, the cost of seeds, equipment, and labor versus going to the grocery store and purchasing vegetables from out of state (or sometimes even out of the country). Through a CSA, you can help build the local food economy and preserve Nashville’s farmland.
Beaverdam Creek Farm
Beaverdam Creek Farm is a small family farm that produces clean, healthy produce with zero harmful chemicals.
CSA shares are distributed for 12 weeks beginning in May. A share is a peck basket containing enough produce for one couple or one couple with small children. Each week, you will receive a newsletter with recipes, farm news, and tips on how to store your produce. The farm also offers a week of vacation with advance notice.
Pick-up locations include Centerville (at Beaverdam Creek Farm), the Downtown Nashville Farmers’ Market, or the Franklin Farmers’ Market. You can learn more and sign up for the CSA here.
Bells Bend Farms

Members can pick up their full or half share on the farm or at the East Nashville or West Nashville farmers’ markets. Each week (full share) or every other week (half share), members receive a newsletter detailing the current week’s harvest list, happenings on the farm, pictures, upcoming events, food storage tips, and even recipes!
Members also receive free admission to harvest festivals, square dances, potluck dinners, and more. You’ll also receive discounts on bulk orders and other seasonal products. Find out more about the Bells Bend Farms CSA here.

The Nashville Food Project
The Nashville Food Project’s CSA is part of their program, Growing Together. The Growing Together farmers came to Tennessee as immigrants or refugees and grow produce on a one-acre farm in South Nashville. The program gives these farmers resources to grow food and generate income for their families while providing customers with an incredibly diverse range of fresh, local produce.
No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used on the farm. Any inputs used are certified for organic growing practices. Each box features eight to 10 unique items and provides substantial produce for one to two people and a supplemental amount for three to four. Members are assigned to a Growing Together farmer who plans and packs their boxes for the season.
Members receive several crops from the farmers’ native countries of Burma and Bhutan, such as mustard greens, bok choy, daikon radish, and yard-long beans. The boxes include vegetables local to Middle Tennessee, such as lettuce, potatoes, and squash, and you can also expect to see tomatoes, okra, beans, and peppers when they are in season.
The 20-week season runs from May 14 to August 3, with a four-week break, and then resumes from September 3 to October 26. Veggie boxes are available for pick-up on Tuesdays at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Wednesdays at Christ Lutheran Church on Haywood Lane, or Thursdays and Saturdays at The Nashville Food Project. Learn more about the Growing Together CSA and what vegetables you can expect each month, and sign up here.
