The story follows an eight-year-old boy named Buddy who lives in rural Alabama. Buddy lives a charmed, simple Alabama life until he goes to New Orleans to be with his father for the holidays. His father is a con artist, and Buddy struggles to connect with him as he is consumed with scheming. As Christmas draws closer, Buddy and his father start to soften and move toward becoming a family.
Fun fact: this movie was Katherine Hepburn’s final film!
